We were fortunate enough to be able to spend the weekend in the Laurentians (Les Laurentides) just under 2 hours north of Montreal. True, it was next to a swamp complete with beaver dams and black flies, and the local nurseries didn't even have lettuce plants to offer yet, but the 24/7 sound effects were spectacular (the audio just doesn't do the frogs justice and the video is there just to make the audio possible -- the recording was made in pitch darkness).
For those of you who might have noticed a black to white change in the blog's appearance, the only thing I can say is that it was time. There will be tweaks and adjustments to "The Look" over the next couple of days -- any feedback is, of course, most welcome.

Those frogs sound so cool on the video. I live in a little town but the only wildlife we get are ducks and geese. Not too spectacular as you can imagine. Will be following your blog. Please feel free to look at mine...New Build Planning Permission
@gonzo39: Glad you liked the frogs -- it's always fun to listen to them. As for geese and ducks, they're a treat to hear as well -- we occasionally get to hear them flying over as they migrate. Loved the 3D house, BTW.
It's too hot here in FL right now to hear anything like this. I played it a gazillion times because I just love the sounds! thanx
@LOLA: I'm glad you're enjoying the recording. We have had some hot/muggy (at least for Montreal) days here recently -- I think I'll follow your example the next time it gets uncomfortable and think of cooler times :-)
